The year 1968 defined "the Sixties" as an era of radicalization and resistance. Forty years on, the world is still wracked by war, environmental disaster, racism and poverty.

Millions are engaged in movements to change the world. At Marxism 2008 hundreds of people will join together to discuss what is happening in the world and alternatives to capitalism, war and injustice.

Theory, strategy, debate – but also a festival of music, poetry and exhibitions.

Highlights include:

  • The Tet Offensive and the US defeat
  • Revolutionary strategy and tactics
  • After Kyoto: what next for the movement?
  • Exposing NATO’s failure in Afghanistan
  • Booms, slumps and Marxist
    theory of crisis
  • Racism and Canada’s “security state”
  • Somalia and Darfur: new fronts
    in the “war on terror”
