
From Haiti to Iraq to Syria, Canadian troops, bombers and weaponry have been sent round the world to prevent or help carry out regime change according to the interests of Canada's 1%. Under Stephen Harper and the Conservatives, military spending and secrecy has increased while foreign aid and trade treaties have become increasingly aggressive and exploitative tools. Has Harper turned Canada into an imperialist power? Or is he simply following the dictates of US foreign policy? Can we look back to the 90s and humanitarian interventions as a more peaceful era in Canada's role internationally?
