**Steps from where Andrew Loku was murdered**
**************************
It is time for action!
Sunday marked two weeks since Andrew Loku was murdered by Toronto Police.
ANDREWS LOKU’S DEATH IS AN INJUSTICE!
Mayor Tory and Police Chief Saunders say that we should wait for the “independent” Special Investigations Unit report. They say to be patient. They say to trust the process.
This week, we saw the results of this supposed process: The officer(s) responsible for Jermaine Carby’s death will not be charged for his murder. This is the Canadian equivalent of the “no indictment” decision of the Mike Brown murder south of the border.
In the fall of 2014, Jermaine Carby was slain by Peel Police in a routine traffic stop. His injuries included seven gunshot wounds to his back and forearm. The particulars of his case are suspicious – the SIU confirms that officers tampered with evidence at the scene, producing the apparent knife of Jermaine's hours after the initial investigations began, which suggests that a weapon was planted. Jermaine was defamed by police to justify his murder
This was all acknowledged and confirmed by the SIU. Yet the SIU decided that the case did not warrant a trial.
JERMAINE CARBY’S DEATH IS AN INJUSTICE!
The SIU denied him justice. How can we sit idly and wait for the SIU to do the same to Andrew Loku?
We have not seen action. So we will take action.
This is for Andrew Loku. This is for Jermaine Carby. This is for all Black folks in this city who have been unjustly carded, surveilled, assaulted or murdered by police. This is for Sandra Bland. This is for all Black folks globally resisting anti-black racism and state-sanctioned violence.
Not. Another. Black. Life.
In rage,
Black Lives Matter-Toronto
