4 years on from the "Orange Wave" which landed the NDP as the official opposition Canada may elect its first ever social-democratic government. Where is this support coming from and what does it mean for the struggles on the ground after 9 years of Conservative rule, what can we expect?
If we look at the NDP's platform the contradictions are stark. Positive reforms like affordable child-care, a $15/h minimum wage, and repealing Bill C-51 will find themselves wedged in-between support for the "domestic refining" of the tar sands and Canada's imperial commitments to NATO. So how do we relate to this?
The answers to these questions are informed by another one, how do we bring about change?
Please join the Toronto West International Socialists for a dinner and discussion and get ready for the tactical and strategic questions ahead.
All are welcome.
