The socialist case against immigration controls

The worst refugee crisis since WWII has exploded as war, climate change and austerity drives millions to flee their homes in desperate search for a better life. Refugees Welcome rallies across Europe and in Canada show the desire for an alternative to the often cruel and oppressive immigration and refugee policies implemented by many countries including Canada. Yet, many who want to help refugees still accept that there must be limits on the refugees and immigrants we take in every year out of fear for the economy, jobs, culture and/or terrorism. We will discuss the socialist case for abolishing all immigration controls and why we have more in common with the immigrants and refugees than we do with our own ruling elites. A world without borders is possible.
