The huge protests against yet another racist police killing in the US, Canada and around the world have exposed yet again the racist nature of the police and the system that they protect and serve. The death of Regis Korchinski-Paquet, a young Afro-Indigenous woman, while in Toronto police custody illustrates once again that racism operates in Canada, contrary to what the myth-makers say.

Other oppressions exist alongside and intersect with racism: purveyors of sexist, homophobic and transphobic ideas target those who challenge the nuclear family myth perpetuated by conservative voices.
Where do these ideas come from?
Are people inherently racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic?
What strategies and tactics can be used to counter these ideas?
How can we get rid of oppression for good?
