Revolt in France
Sunday, May 7
1:00 pm EDT | 10:00 am PDT
427 Bloor St West and on zoom.
Emmanuel Macron’s raising of the retirement age in France has sparked a widespread revolt among trade unionists and the broader population with massive strikes and demonstrations across the country. Millions have come into the streets including workers at refineries, schools, docks, ports and transportation. This type of mass protest has not been seen in decades and has become much more than a trade union fight.
The French strikes are part of a pattern of revolt that is erupting across the world with mass workers action against government cuts and corporate profiteering that has squeezed working people to the limit.
Join us to discuss the development of the French revolt and the lessons for workers struggles here in Canada.
