In the wake of a massive student strike and social movement mobilized under the symbol of the 'carre rouge' - the red square -  in 2012, the Parti Quebecois won a minority government in Quebec. The PQ promised to heed the demands of the movement and hold the line on student tuition fees, but once in power they reversed that position, moving to raise fees and promoting the divisive Charter of Values, opening the door to Islamophobia. Join us for a discussion of the upcoming Quebec provincial election and prospects for the left, including the possibility of a historic breakthrough by Quebec Solidaire, the party of the ballot box and of the street.

Chantal Sundaram will be skyping in to introduce the evening with an eyewitness account of the latest developments in Quebec.
