Dinner and talk with James Clark and Sid Lacombe
The revolutions which swept through the Arab world from December 2010 showed the potential for a mass upsurge to shake the foundations of Israel’s occupation of Palestine. Arab regimes that collaborated with Israel – most notably, that of Egyptian president Mubarak – were brought down by mass movements that were inspired by Palestinian resistance. These movements themselves took up the demand for freedom for Palestine.
But the ongoing Israeli blockade and bombing of Gaza, and the return to military rule in Egypt, raise the question: are the Arab revolutions finished? If the road to Jerusalem runs through Cairo, what perspectives are there for a renewed resistance in Egypt? As the BDS movement grows globally, what is its relationship to resistance movements in the Arab world? Join us for a discussion on the future of the Arab revolutions and the Palestinian struggle.
