The recent killings of two western journalists and a British aid worker by members of the Islamic State (ISIS) have catalysed attempts by the U.S. to escalate military action in Iraq. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is currently working to assemble a new 'coalition of the willing' to wage renewed 'humanitarian' war, only a few short years after the U.S. ostensibly wrapped up its last war in the Middle East. Stephen Harper has signalled that Canada will be part of that coalition, authorising Canadian Forces soldiers to deploy to Iraq as 'advisors.'
Join us for dinner and a discussion of the history of western interventions in Iraq, and what we can do here in Canada to oppose them.
Dinner and refreshments available. Suggested donation $7-20
