Climate change, caused by capitalism, is wreaking havoc on people and the planet. We live in a society where the drive to increase profits outweighs almost all other considerations. Government plans to halt climate change are woefully inadequate because they will not interfere with the profits of fossil fuel corporations. All the while, the rich continue to get richer as they destroy the planet. As we push for emergency climate action we need to build a movement that can overthrow capitalism and create a society based on the needs of people and the planet. Only direct democratic control of all of our workplaces, schools, and communities will allow us to confront the climate emergency. The fight for socialism is the fight for a society where we work together in solidarity with one another and the planet. Join us for a discussion of the threat of extinction and possibility of socialism.
